Pappy had some simulator training in Paris while we were gone on our last trip, and so he planned to meet up with us once we were back from our travels and he was done with his classes. We met Pappy at the airport on our way in to town. Chance and I were waiting on a bench for Pappy to come down the escalators and meet us, and as soon as Chance saw him he tore across the airport to jump in to Pappy's arms. It brought tears to my eyes! We raced home, changed clothes and then took Pappy out to eat for some authentic Swiss food at one of our favorite restaurants to celebrate Father's Day.
Sunday brought an amazingly clear day so we boarded one of the lake steamers and took the 2 hour ride down to Rapperswil where we walked around the quaint medieval town, had some ice cream (of course) and let Chance run almost-naked in the water fountain down at the lake front. He was so cute (or more likely a out of place) that I saw one lady stop to take a picture of him! The Alps were in clear view that day and just amazing.Monday sent Ryan back to work, so Pappy and I took Chance to the "Big Park" to play and splash in the wading pool.
Tuesday thru Thursday Chance was in school so it was just Pappy and I. Tuesday was another super clear day so we headed up to Uetliberg, a bordering hill to see views of Zurich and the Alps. On our hike up we saw a sign pointing to "6 minutes walk" down to a restaurant so we went for it and happened upon a great restaurant with an even better view. We sat cliffside and admired the Alps. You can just never get enough of the view. Wednesday we toured around old town and ran some errands, then Thursday the worst thunderstorm in our Zurich's history crashed down upon us, but cleared in time for us to meet Ryan for lunch at a really great Italian place.
Friday we said our goodbye's and were sad to see Pappy go. On Saturday I caught Chance say as he was playing alone in his room: "I wish Pappy was still here to play with me". We had such a nice visit and can't wait for Pappy to come back with Nanny and Beth in the fall!
