Viva Mallorca

I've said this before and I'll say it again....AHHHHH ESPANA. It couldn't get any better than Spain. Have I mentioned before that this is my FAVORITE place in all the world? Just wanted to make that clear in case it wasn't! :)

Last week we spent basking in the rays of the Mediterranean Ocean on the northeastern part of the island. Seems like most of our trips are spent rushing around, seeing sights, and moving on to the next town to do it all over again. We left for Mallorca with my typical list from hours of internet research, on what must-sees we had to accomplish. One day of relaxing by the beach and pool with Ponche & Cola in hand and Ryan said to me, we are not leaving the resort. Scratch the cool caves, the mountain terrain, the windmill lined roads, the Spanish castles. We didn't care. We needed a break from sightseeing and the white sand beach with its crystal clear water was all we needed to obtain complete bliss.

We created our daily routine and tended to stick with it. First things were first....eat, and eat a LARGE breakfast. When you have room full of all you can eat, might as well eat up. Diet tomorrow, stuff your face now (even though the food was clearly catered to German tastes and was awful). After gorging, we took our bikini bodies out to the surf. Every morning was like a re-enactment of the settlers claiming land......we'd race down to the edge of the water and steak out the best and closest-to-the-water place to set up our umbrella. Over the course of several days we built castles, helped a cute Spanish family build their sand castle (Chance and that little boy were so cute playing with me as translator.....I loved every minute of practicing my Spanish), built volcanoes, buried our feet, you name it we did it. The water was amazingly turquoise and so clear and clean. We swam out really far and could see our feet all the way at the bottom. Ryan said clear water is the best, cause you can wait in anticipation as the shark approaches to eat you....

After the sun beat out our last drop of energy (or maybe it was Chance and not the sun?), we'd head back to the hotel for some lunch (food seems to the the common theme here) and then nap away until the intense sun settled down. Afternoons were spent with Ryan trying to get Chance to be more adventurous in the pool, and after trying and trying Chance finally was comfortable putting his head under water. Ryan has an amazing way. There was also a great kiddie part with a water slide and mushroom water fountain. Water and more water, then food and more food.

Yes, dinner time. Good thing the dinner options sucked really bad or I think you would have had to roll us home. A blessing in disguise! After dinner was the best part of the day. Drinks for the adults and a kiddie disco on the main stage by the pools. Chance danced the night away to an hour of kids entertainment and then usually we'd stay on for the nightly (bad) entertainment.

Chance loved this place since it was all geared to kids and we loved it cause he loved it. We packed our bags and headed back to reality stopping at the duty free on the way home to obtain the much coveted Ponche that one can only buy in Spain. Oh and since we had an afternoon flight home we were able to take the long drive back to the airport, through the cute Spanish villages and through the rocky mountain terrain, even stopping at the most sacred spot on the island, the Lluc Monastery. So my trip was complete after all.

I'm sure I'll be finding my way back to Spain some how in the near future!
