R&C in the House

Ryan's brother Randall and his wife Chae left he kiddos with Nanny and decided to jump the pond on over to visit us. Our visit with them couldn't have been any better! We lucked out with Chance being in school most of the days during their visit, so we were able to partake in sightseeing as adults. The first day we met Ryan for lunch and trompsed around the town a little. I was trying to keep R&C from napping so that they could adjust to the time change, but by mid afternoon the bed was calling their names, so they drifted off for a little zzzz's. Ryan lucked out and was able to take off work for the rest of their visit, so Thursday we dumped Chance at school and headed for the mountains. Ryan and Randall got to ski and Chae and I broke the sledding record for the most (and fastest I might add) sled runs done in one day.....I think we topped 10 runs in record time. It was a blast. Friday we slowed down the pace and took the slow boat down to Rapperswil, enjoying the lake while we munched on cheese and bread and then wandered the little medieval town after lunch. We had booked a hotel room in the alps for Saturday night but the weather wasn't cooperating, so at the last minute we changed our plans and Chae suggested going to Ascona instead. What a find. Ascona is in the very southern tip of Switzerland and we could have sworn we were in Italy. R&C got to experience the Swiss countryside and mountains on the trains during our 4 hour train ride. Chance decided to prove us liars and he behaved beautifully the ENTIRE time while there.
We basically strolled from one bar to another the entire afternoon and soaked up the much missed sunshine that we haven't seen for weeks in Zurich. I think Randall and Chae (and us too!) could have stayed in that town for a couple more days! Sunday on the way home we detoured and made a little stop in Bellinzona. It was nice to go back there and we got to show them the amazing castles in that town. Monday Ryan took R&C out bar hopping while Chance and I stayed in and relaxed a little. What a nice visit! Chance cried all day Tuesday asking for his Aunt Chae to come back - he too really loved seeing his Aunt and Uncle.
